Tourists Arrival to the Dominican Republic Increased 5.9%

According the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic, in the first seven months of the year the country received 3,879,334 foreign passengers, which represented 216,456 more arrivals compared to the same period of 2016.

During this period, Europe was the region of greatest contribution to the increase in the arrival of tourists with 143,004 passengers compared to the same period of 2016 meaning a growth of 21.3%.

The report of the Central Bank highlighted the increase in travelers from Russia (89,755 more than in the same period last year), England (12,766), Germany (8,476), Switzerland (5,230), Spain (5,018), Portugal (3,876), Ukraine (3,718) and France (3,542).

The arrival of travelers from North America, Central America and the Caribbean also increased 4.0%, on average while South America presented a decrease of -0.1%, mainly as a result of the reduction in visitors from Venezuela and Brazil.
